Greetings Citrus family,
I hope this message finds you happy, healthy, and enjoying the remaining days of your summer vacation. As we gear up for another GREAT school year, I wanted to share some important information with you.
It Takes a Village- August 12th from 8:30am-1pm
Our "It Takes a Village" event is where we go out into our community to visit students, set goals with them for the upcoming school year, provide them with school supplies, and then come back to Citrus to enjoy a pizza lunch. We wish we could visit all of our families, however, that is not possible. If you would like your students to be chosen for this event and receive a home visit from some of our staff, please complete this form before Wednesday, August 10th. We will randomly select some of those students to participate and notify you via text if your family has been chosen.
Back to School Bash- August 19th from 2pm-4pm
After last year's success, we will once again open our school to allow families to get to know our campus before the first day, learn about different opportunities to support your students at Citrus, and offer families freebies and resources to set everyone up for success this upcoming school year. This will take place on August 19th from 2pm-4pm.
First Day of School- August 22nd
The first day of school is on August 22nd. School starts at 8:30am, however, our gates open at 8 am. Families will be able to walk their son/daughter to class on the first day only. All students are able to receive a free breakfast which is served from 8am-8:20am in our cafeteria.
We know how excited you and your son/daughter are to find out who their new teacher will be for the upcoming school year! Please make sure you are able to log into Parent Portal as all classroom information will be available through our Aeries Parent Portal on August 19th. We will have staff available at our Back to School Bash to support anyone unable to log in. Also, if you are already out school shopping and wondering what supplies your son/daughter might need, please refer to our grade level wish lists (this is simply a wish list, these supplies are not required).
If you are interested in receiving transportation for your son/daughter, please visit our website to complete an application online (found under the Family Resource tab). I encourage you to complete this as soon as possible as our buses have limited seats.
We are blessed to have an amazing afterschool program through Think Together that is free to our students. The program offers some homework assistance and enrichment opportunities and begins after school every day and ends at 6pm. All students need to be able to attend for the majority of the program. Because space is limited, there is a two step application process. If you are interested in a spot in our Think Together program for the 2022-2023 school year, please complete this intent to apply form. After it is completed, someone from Think Together will reach out to you regarding next steps. We also have before and after school daycare option, if you are interested in that please email Heather Young, heather_young@upland.
As always, if you have any additional questions or I can be of any assistance, feel free to reach out. I hope you continue to enjoy your summer vacation and look forward to seeing all of you as we get closer to the start of the school year.
